A good friend of mine, Sarah, messaged me and wondered if I could finished a quilt for her, and help her auction the finished quilt, to help raise money for Diabetes Research.

I accepted her request for help, and decided right then, to waive the cost of my work, so that every possible dollar would make it to the charity.

Sarah and I have known each other since 2008, when we met in Basic Training, and have been friends ever since. We have supported each other through break-ups, and celebrated each other accomplished through the years. Don't forget the yearly Christmas cards, with pictures of the kids.

So helping with this quilt, is my small way of supporting a best friend and her daughter.

Right Now, Sarah's daughter has been struggling with high blood sugar, and has been diagnosed Atypical type Diabetics, but the doctors are looking into her having Type 1 or Monogenic of Diabetes.

So with us playing the waiting game, for test results. We have decided to do some fundraising, with a quilt. Throughout November, the quilt will be finished, with updates provided. Our plan is to auction the quilt the last week of the month. the highest bid will receive the quilt, and the money will be donated to https://www.jdrf.ca/

Diabetics Awareness Quilt - Progress updates

Diabetics Awareness Quilt thread colours

November 1st:

Early today, on Facebook and Instagram, a poll was posted to help to decided which colour of thread should be used.  The teal, or top thread colour is the clear winner.

November 7th:

This week, I put the quilt n my long arm quilting rack. I also made the first couple passes using the heart pantograph pattern.  Using my laser pointer, I follow the lines on the pantograph. The sewing machine stitches the quilt top, middle and backing together.

Next week, is Nov, 14th. Which is Diabetes Awareness Day.  I am going to holding a sale on my reminding masks.  They will be $5ea, with $4 going to JDRF. The extra $1, will help pay for the packaging, and stamp to mail the masks out.

I will send out an email, next week as a reminder. So if you haven't filled out the form above, please do
